Let’s face it, 96% of amateur baseball players do not collect any kind of meaningful data when they’re at batting practice. It’s almost all based on repetition and not on the outcome of each swing. This means you could be repping away in the cage with bad swing mechanics and then wondering why you struggle to get on base! There’s no easy way of consistently tracking problematic swing outcomes in the batting cage.
We’ve decided to change that with our web app! Not only will you be able to track each cage session (the good – the bad – the ugly!), but you will also be able to identify swing outcomes (i.e. pop-flys, swing and miss, ground outs, etc.) and then practice batting techniques for better results!
Three simple steps: 1)Track the data! 2) Identify the good and the bad! 3) Analysis – understand what is working well and WHY (7 hard-hit balls in the outfield) then understand what isn’t working (6 pop-flys and 4 swing and misses). Troubleshoot swing mechanics that typically cause bad results until you find what you are doing wrong. Get back in the cage and rinse and repeat until those bad outcomes turn into good ones or at least start to minimize.
This app is designed to capture each swing outcome in real-time through teammates, coaches, parents, or friends by simply inputting a swing outcome from each pitch sent. Simply press the button that best describes the swing outcome, for example – line drive, ground ball, pop-fly, swing & miss, etc. The data is then entered and stored for later analysis.
The batter will later be able to analyze their performance, make adjustments on the fly, and start seeing improvements every batting practice. The app also has the option to email the player each practice performance so they can compare and contrast previous practices to see what needs improvement. For example, working on driving the ball to the opposite side of the outfield, etc.
